This fabulous museum is home to a vast collection of

  • Local transport history.
  • Hundreds of models.
  • Kent Coalfield items.
  • Over 2000 historic artefacts
  • Maritime Room. featuring the history of Dover Harbour
  • Bygone shops display
  • See exhibits being worked on at the museum.

Further donations of local historical and transport interest are always welcome.

The Dover Transport Museum is perfect for educational visits from schools in and around the Dover Deal and Sandwich area and has excellent disabled access.

With plenty of educational interactivity for the young to enjoy, the Dover Transport Museum is excellent value for money.

The Dover Transport Museum is set in two acres of attractive grounds ideal for picnics, close to the Dover Deal and Sandwich Kent area, with plenty of free coach and car parking on site.

The Dover Transport Museum has been purchased with heritage lottery funds and donations given by many generous local businesses across the Dover Deal and Sandwich Kent area and is a registered charity.

The support of local enthusiasts and volunteers has enabled the transport museum to secure a permanent home where the past, present and future have come together to be enjoyed by all the family.

Museum Opening Times and Prices

Easter to end of September:

Wednesday - 1:30pm-5.00pm
Saturdays, Sunday & Bank Holidays - 10:30am -5.00pm - Last Entry 4:15pm

Off peak
October-Easter - Sundays Only

Free admission - Donations Gratefully Accepted

Last Entry 2:15pm
Special arrangements made for schools and groups

Directions by car are as follows:

From Canterbury A2 going to Dover - Whitfield round-a-bout, take third exit to next round-a-bout, take 2nd exit ( 1st exit takes you to Tesco Supermarket ) Take 2nd left, should see a sign to museum and Harbour Board Social Club, Willingdon Road. Museum in buildings on left.
