Hosting and supporting events
The Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade organise and run the town Christmas lights programme and lights switching on ceremony. This major annual event, designed to attract shoppers and visitors into Deal and Walmer is always hosted by a major TV celebrity.Volunteer electricians, work tirelessly through the year maintaining and renewing the electrical installations to make this event possible and ensure Deal and Walmer look great in the festive season.
The Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade,host a number of other events to raise funds towards the significant cost of the Christmas lights which are always well supported by the generosity of local traders.
Deal's Summer Street Entertainment programme includes puppeteers, stilt walkers, living statues, musicians, all to create a seaside atmosphere for Deal and Walmer benefiting locals and visitors.
The Chamber of Trade's annual Autumn Auction, although quirky, provides a riot of fun with items from pennies to pounds, generously donated by local shops and services being auctioned off to help fund the Christmas lights.
