Visit Kent's only Working Watermill , Crabble Corn Mill, situated along the picturesque River Dour on the outskirts of Dover , just a short journey from nearby Sandwich and Deal.
There have been mills on the site of the Georgian Crabble Corn Mill for over 800 years before it was built in 1812. Heralded as 'State of the Art' after its construction, it contributed to one of Dover's main industries of making flour from corn grown in the many fields around the towns of Dover Deal and Sandwich.
Today visitors to this fascinating tourist attraction can see the millstones which still make wholemeal flour. A tour of the working machinery spread over five floors of the mill gives a fabulous insight into what working life was like at this 17th Century water Mill.
Crabble Corn Mill - Great for Educational Visits
The Crabble Corn Mill welcomes educational visits from schools in the Deal Dover and Sandwich area which enable children to see what life used to be like in the 17th Century.There are guided tours of the mill along with audio tours and interactive demonstrations where children can try milling for themselves on the replica Quern Stones. The Crabble Corn Mill has resource books and fact sheets all of which are available as a CD. There is also a study area for children to complete project work at the Mill.

Set in a picturesque landscape along the river Dour in Dover, The Crabble Mill seats 60 people in its dinning area which over looks the river and has a fully licensed Bar. Crabble Mill is the perfect location for exhibitions of all kinds including art and photography.
As the Mill is a registered charity run by a group of hardworking volunteers, using the mill for your event will contribute greatly towards its running costs. The mill itself, hosts a selection of fund raising events throughout the year from Beer Festivals to quiz nights and talks on local history.
Crabble Corn Mill Tea Room
No visit to Crabble Mill is complete without a visit to its Tea Room overlooking the river Dour.
Here you can sample hot meals snacks and delicious cream teas whilst admiring the view. The Tea Room is fully licensed and can seat up to 60 people.
Before you leave, make sure you visit the Mill Shop, where you can purchase one of Crabble Corn Mills special bread mixes or a bag of the Mills Stone ground wholemeal flour. You can also purchase a selection of locally grown produce such as Kentish wines, Crabble cider and preserves.
