Deal Festival of Music and The Arts - What would you like to see?

This week I went to help out a concert for the Deal Festival of Music and the Arts, where Germaine Greer was giving a talk on Shakespeare’s Wife. This wasn't something I expected to like but was surprised to find the talk engaging, thought provoking, and informative. Feed back forms from questionnaires given to the audience supported my thoughts. Germaine Greer was excellent, and extremely gracious in giving every member of the audience plenty of individual time to ask questions during her book signing.

Next year the festival committee hope to bring more nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to our lovely towns. One theme suggested for the programme of entertainment is 'Great Women' featuring possible delights such as Victoria Wood, Nicola Benedetti and Sandi Toksvig although we must stress that none of the artists mentioned here have yet been approached.

Perhaps you could suggest a theme or particular artist you would like to see. This year we have gone out of our way to involve local businesses and the community much more in the Festival events - this is your town and your festival so tell us what you want!

We attended the Ukelele Band Concert again this year and they were brilliant. Would love to see them again next year. They are making a debut appearance at the Proms in the Royal Albert Hall this month...would love to go but they are on quite late in the evening. We also attended the John Williams/John Etheridge concert which was technically brilliant but frankly the music was quite obscure and frankly a little tedious. Would love to see artists such as James Taylor,.even Paul McCartney is local. Well done to the committee. Its a great event. report abuse...
