Motorists have plenty of complaints at the moment about the number of potholes on Darlington's roads, but Sainsburys have set a fine example on how to get rid rid of them. They have been quick off the mark to have repairs carried out on their car park.
Parts of the surface there were in poor shape after the big freeze, just like some of the main thoroughfares in the town. But the supermarket bosses did well to call in a repair gang quickly, and the whole parking area has been neatly smoothed out.
Most councils will take much longer to put things right, so a large number of vehicles are liable to be damaged by these jagged holes in the coming weeks. Let's hope cash can be found to get work done on the town's roads before too long.
