Dimwit drivers don't indicate at roundabouts

We could do with some new road signs in Darlington to remind dimwit drivers to indicate at roundabouts. Far too many go onto them at speed and do nothing to show other road users which exit they will take.

The worst examples of this can be seen at the roundabout at the bottom of North Road, and the two on Victoria Road. Why do so many fail to indicate? They are either too stupid to think about it or just can't be bothered. Those who suffer are drivers waiting to get onto the roundabouts. They dare not move out, even when an approaching vehicle look as if it will turn off before it reaches them, unless a flicker is used.

There have been a lot of near misses at each of these three places, all due to confusion caused by the non-indicators. To make matters worse, the offenders are usually the type of drivers who go round without reducing speed. They are not boy racers, but mature men and women who have surely been driving long enough to know how to behave. It would be good to see policepa rking there and stopping those causing the trouble. But that is highly unlikely to happen, so the next best thing would be some new signs saying: "Use indicators when entering and leaving roundabout."
