Can Steve Staunton turn things round

Can Steve Staunton turn things round? All Quakers fans will fervently hope so. There has to be a series of good results soon or there will be no escape. The club chairman stated after the new manager was appointed that his aim was not to stay in this division for long. He meant that they would be going up, of course, but his words could prove correct, but in the wrong direction.

One good point the chairman did make was that the supporters could not be blamed for staying away from the Arena. He admitted this was only to be expected bearing in mind the team's results. This was much better than the old habit of attacking fans for not giving enough backing. He knows there is only one way to get decent-sized crowds, and that is to give decent performances on the pitch.

Staunton was a tremendous player, and it has to be hoped that he can transform his skills into management at this level, with help from his right hand man Kevin Richardson. If the club does drop out of the league. There would be long odds against climbing back up again within the next five seasons. Good luck Steve and Kevin. Start winning and you'll be heroes.
