The NSPCC charity – Someone to turn to
The NSPCC is a charity that has been working to protect children from cruelty since 1884, and now runs more than 180 services for children, young people and families. During 2004 and 2005, the NSPCC charity worked with 15,684 children and their families through our direct services and Helpline.
The NSPCC Charity’s vision is that all children are loved and looked after, and able to fulfil their potential.
NSPCC Croydon Therapeutic Service
The NSPCC’s Croydon therapeutic project provides a service to children and their families to help them recover from different forms of abuse, including emotional, physical and neglect. The service offers therapies and counselling to children and the carers of children being worked with. In addition, the project also provides training and consultation to social workers and health and education workers dealing with abuse. This charitable service is invaluable within your own community, and the NSPCC charity welcomes any support for it and their other projects.
Helpline
The NSPCC Child Protection Helpline provides free information, counselling and advice to anyone who suspects child abuse or that a child is at risk. In 2004, 1,287 calls were received by the NSPCC from the Croydon area, 3,958 from South East London, and 3,243 from South West London areas.
