We've been going to Costco whenever we've had parties and bigger events. The choice of food is huge, the quality is excellent and the service great!
I think Costco have some really good deals and its great you can buy in bulk very ideal for parties etc! All the food is nice! Especially the birthday cakes you get a really really big cake just for a tenner which i think is a really good bargain! Theres always staff around and usually some staff with a little display offering you little nibbles to try what they have in store! The queues are never that long! They also have a little cafe where you can get hot and cold food which is really nice and also really good for money you can also take it away with you! Also there's always loads of parking spaces no matter what time of year you go even at Christmas!!
I shop at Costco about once every other month. I stock up on meat, cleaning products and drinks. It's excellent value. The meat is priced at a similar level to Sainsbury's, but much better quality. It's often better quality than what you get from the butcher, but obviously not as flexible as your local butcher would be. The minced beef is actually proper meat, not a load of gristle. The fish is always wonderful, particularly the salmon. If you have a big freezer they sell high quality frozen food that I wouldn't be ashamed of serving at a dinner party, but you do pay for the quality in those cases and you need a BIG freezer to really make the most of your Costco membership. The wine selection is good, but not worth the membership fee in itself. You can get some good deals, but similar deals are available in the normal supermarkets. If I'm there anyway, I look out for 6-pack boxes of wine as they tend to be decently priced. The Costco passport with coupons sometimes also provides really good deals on wine.In the summer we were looking to buy a big flat screen TV. We went to all the big shops and the one we wanted was priced between £1150 at Comet and £1350 at John Lewis. We got it for £850 (inc VAT) from Costco and that included an extended 5 year warranty (I think Comet charged something like £300 for a 3 year warranty) so that telly alone paid for the membership fee for the next 10 years.I'm a keen photographer and use the online photo centre all the time. I upload my photos online and pick them up at the store the next day and the quality of the photos is as good as the professional shop I used to go to that charges 10 times as much per photo.
Costco is Brilliant. You couldn't get absolutely everything there, but what they have is generally superb value. All the big manufacturer's/brands are there. Fantastic customer services. The TV I bought there was £120 cheaper than anywhere on the High Street or web. And it's not even an expensive one to start with. And it includes a 5 year warranty FREE. None of this buy the extended warranty you get browbeaten into at Comet or Currys ets.
I have been a Costco member since 2005 and have a yearly spend in the region of £2500, the membership fee is soon repaid with good value shopping. You cannot better the food section - all the meats are top quality. Sometimes I find white & brown goods cheaper on the net but prefer to buy at Costco due to their superb no-quibble returns policy and additional benefits like free extended warranties. Wines & spirits can sometimes be found cheaper but most of the time they are better priced so I don't waste time trying to save the odd penny trudging supermarkets. Remember on food and household items you are buying in bulk so you need a decent freezer and storage.
Since the yelping public has voted and made it quite clear that I am decidedly much funnier than I am cool, I'll cut my cool losses and shoot myself in the 'ever-being-cooler-than-funny' foot with another review of the mega-chain (and the mega-awesome) Costco.Becuase even though you're judging me, you're also jealous that I was there and didn't pick *you* up 30 toilet rolls for a tenner or 3 boxes of Crunchy Nut for £7. Or that amazing Kirkland brand trail mix with the fake MandMs. Or eleventy billion vitamins. But what I would like to add to this seeming useless, uncool review is that they've translated the £1.50 hot dog + soda deal into "English" with the ability to opt for the .50p tea + bakewell tart offer. Keepin' it classy, Costo! Raaaaather!
I bloody love Costco. The last time I went they were doing 2 for 1 on BBQ ribs from the rotisserie, which made me very ill.
Flippin’ huge warehouse of cash & carry stuff that carries an impressively wide range of goods, with varying discounts on the prices you would see on the high street (or even online). You need to sign up (and pay) to be a member to shop here - you qualify for membership if you run or manage a business, or if you work in a certain profession, e.g. bean-counting.Check out the Costco website to see the full list of types of stuff they sell, but suffice to say you could drive up here and leave your car to get its tyres changed, then go inside to get your photos developed while you take your massive trolley round the store, filling it with a MacBook Pro, an electronic piano, a vacuum cleaner, a platter of sushi, and a rump of lamb. If the car’s not quite done, sit down and get yourself a pizza or pie at the in-store cafe. While the variety of stuff available is impressive, the range on offer can be limited, so don’t expect to find absolutely everything here. For example, there were only a couple of Wii games on offer during my visit - Mario Kart and Guitar Hero World Tour.Probably the best discounts on offer are in the fresh meat department. The beef and lamb are British, although Costco could probably do more to provide more information on the provenance of the meat, since the initial assumption is that cheap meat can only have come from badly treated livestock.
