The Holker Group is a family owned, commercial business operating a diverse range of business interests ranging from estate management and farming, leisure and tourism and quarrying and manufacturing in Cumbria and Southern Scotland. Whilst our partnership with William B Rose is relatively new, it has been most valuable and I have been able to rely completely on legal based services. I first signed up with William B Rose in March 2011, and it has been one of the best business decisions I have made.

We are a nursery with 24 staff on the payroll, so not a huge organisation and generally with very limited staff related issues. My decision to sign up with the company was very simple, my staff have all been here for over 2 years of service. As part of a nursery network in Wrexham, I had the pleasure of meeting Bobby Ahmed, of William B Rose and was very impressed with what he proposed. He came to our nursery within the week of the first meeting and we signed there and then.

No sooner than I had signed up with Bobby, he was handling a disciplinary for us. The employee fortunately for us resigned and the outcome was very positive for my business.

We have recently been dealing with Susie Wheeler, at William B Rose, with regards to a case involving disciplinary meetings with a union representative. She has guided us through this more complex case, in both verbal and written communication. She is never too busy to take my call and the longest I have had to wait for a response was 24 hours (when their server was down) as the normal response time with a drafted letter is no more than 1 hour. This is obviously crucial when needing to respond to an employee.

Both Susie and Bobby give me the confidence and reassurance to be able to speak to any employee with the knowledge that they will support me all the way from the beginning of the process to the end.

We are also reviewing all our employee handbooks and contracts as part of their service and for our business we will have the knowledge that the information is all up to date with the correct legislations.

I cannot praise their services more highly and would highly recommend any organisation in using their services.

Being an employer is not always straightforward when it comes to employment law. Our company has grown rapidly over the past years doubling its staff. We had talked about taking on a company to restructure our employment contracts and deal with employment issues, but as many busy companies we never got around to doing it. We were told about William B Rose by a company who is within the same industry.

We were sceptical at first; worried that we would be ambushed and frightened into why we needed an employment specialist and what could happen if we didn’t!

However, William B Rose were totally different, they advised us of their service and how they operate and were extremely friendly. They understood that we are a family run business and like to look after our employees as many have been with us for a number of years. However, rules change and it is very difficult to be 100% up to date.

Currently William B Rose is dealing with a case on our behalf. They have requested the basic information on the employee and have kept us up to date with their progress. We have had minimal involvement, which is great for us.
