Decision to be Made by the End of the Year
Crawley Borough Council have received interest from three companies in taking over the management of local theatre, The Hawth.
Management of the theatre has been under scrutiny for two years now, after the launch of an ‘options appraisal exercise’ in October 2009.
Other local facilities have also been included in the appraisal, such as Tilgate Lake, Tilgate Nature Centre, community centres and four adventure playgrounds.
Concerns over changes in programming and pricing are being expressed, although a spokesman told the Crawley Observer:
“The council plans to continue to provide support to the current festival’s programme… Ticket pricing has always been market led and it is recognised that this process would need to continue through any new operator.”
Decisions over the other facilities under question will not be made until the middle of next year, though the council has said they have received ten expressions of interest.
