Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey Club is proud to be the most successful British Ice Hockey team and have gone from strength to strength since moving to Coventry in 2000.
Competing in the top flight of the sport the club has had huge success; in the last decade alone securing league, cup and playoff trophies and currently hold the league title for the 2009/10 season which they'll be defending in the 2010/11 Elite League season.
The Blaze have also enjoyed three qualifications for the Continental Cup, the third of which will see the Blaze split their league campaign with a journey to Rouen in November 2010.
The team play their home games out of the Skydome Arena, Coventry. The 2200 seat stadium also boasts room for 800+ standing capacity and is always a popular night out for many in Coventry and the West Midlands. Blaze home games in general fall on a Sunday night (face-off 6.00 pm) with the occasional Saturday (7.00 pm) and midweek (7.30 pm) games.
Alongside their success on the ice, the club has always had a strong hand in the community, whether it's through the schools programme, the schools cash back scheme or player appearances, the club always endeavours to help where it can. Most recently the club and its fans have raised thousands of pounds for various charities including Children in Need and Breast Cancer Research. In 2009 the Blaze Community Foundation was established, a charity arm of the Coventry Blaze, with a keen interest in helping those in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.
The Foundation has run many schemes including a hugely successful employment project named 'Re-lighting careers with the Coventry Blaze' where employment fairs, free of charge training and work placements have seen those struggling for work given the confidence and qualifications to find a place in employment within the city.
