Lakelands Hospice is primarily a day care hospice based in Corby, Northamptonshire, providing its services to residents living within a 20 mile radius.

The hospice provide care services for adults and their carers, affected by life limiting illnesses such as cancer and advanced heart failure. These services include a range of complimentary therapies, palliative care, bereavement service, counselling and support service, to name a few.

Lakelands Hospice also extends its services, providing the community with a Hospice at Home overnight care service, offering end of life care to the terminally ill in their own home.

It costs £450,000 to provide these vital services, and Lakelands receive no government funding and rely totally on charitable donations and fundraising events. Money raised by the community 2011 will allow Lakelands to provide these much needed services to the people of Corby and surrounding villages.

Research shows that 60% of adults diagnosed with a terminal illness, would like the choice to die in their own home. The reality is however that just 20% get their wish. Lakelands Hospice overnight care service, now have the resources in place for that to happen. In the first year alone, Lakelands provided Hospice at Home care services to 45 patients, enabling Corby residents to have a choice about their care.
