Getting fitter helps you cope with the stresses of life

Bookmark and Share

I have been a keen squash player for over 30 years and about 12 months ago stopped playing because of tennis elbow problems and since that time I have become very lazy and not done enough exercise. I noticed that my energy levels and back pains were all symptoms of lack of exercise so a few weeks ago I started playing again and already feel far better and can cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life much better. I play at Le Sport Health and Fitness in Rhos-on-Sea which has 3 squash courts and probably the best gym in the area. Last night I played in a fun club tournament and it was great to meet up with some of the members I had not seen for ages.

Talking at the bar to Andy Stewart a local GP who spoke of a typical week when he may see up to 3 patients who are depressed and even suicidal and commented that the onset of a recession will increase the number of people with depression due to job losses or lack of money. He said for many patients just getting fitter would help to relieve stress in their lives and help them cope better.

My advice is get down to your local gym, take up a sport or just go for regular walks. Our local sports centres at Abergele Leisure Centre and Colwyn Bay Leisure Centre both offer lots of choice and with the council run Ffit card scheme it need not cost you very much.
