Sorry I haven’t got around to mailing you to say a huge thank you for coming in this week. The girls absolutely loved it and have been demonstrating to the boys! The year 7 and 8 girls were treated to an entertaining and informative afternoon with Lande Fourie, Essex Sports Personality of the year 2009, and owner of Colchester Karate Academy. In connection with discussions in PSHE about personal safety, the girls were taught the basic moves to both prevent and cope with dangerous situations. The girls found the physical nature of the session very enjoyable and entertaining. Comments from the girls were:
“ I really enjoyed it and it made me feel more confident” - “ That was so cool, I really loved throwing my friends to the floor!”
“ Now I know what to think about when I am in town with my friends”

Dear Landé

I wanted to thank you for the karate workshop you did with our year 4 and 5 children as part of our ‘round the world’ week. The children thoroughly enjoyed the Karate demonstration and having a go at some of the moves. They talked about it for a long time afterwards and showed off some of the things they had learnt to the rest of the school in assembly time!
Opportunities like this really enhance the children’s learning and we would like to thank you for giving your time and providing the children with such a fantastic experience.

We look forward to seeing you in school again in the future.
Many thanks

Colchester Karate Academy is better than anyone else. I like the stuff they do in the holidays like the cinema when there is a new film, the Easter Egg hunt and camps. I like karate because it’s really fun and the teacher isn’t really THAT strict, but then she isn’t NOT strict either. Kind of in the middle. She knows how to control the class. And it’s also fun because you get to see all your friends on a regular basis. I started when I was 6 and am still going because it’s really fun. If you don’t do that good in a grading no-one picks on you. Also, if you, like, get hurt, the teacher knows how to deal with it. I am 11 now and a 4th kyu grade

It’s a good karate club. Karate is good because it gives you a hobby to do and you are not sitting at home twiddling your thumbs. It keeps you fit and stuff. You can think about it when you are bored and go through the katas in your head and think about it. You can get a cool gi and stuff. And it’s close to demon Xtreme which is good too. Colchester Karate Academy rocks”.

Millie has been at CKA since was 3½ (now 5 years). From the very first lesson she absolutely loved the class and her teacher Landé. We as her parents have been very impressed as well and as a family love coming to the class. Millie is now a purple stripe due to her dedication to the club and the club’s dedication to her. Millie has not only gained great karate skills, but a huge appreciation of what can be achieved by hard work, concentration, good behaviour and what it means to be part of a team.
Landé is a major reason why Millie loves CKA. We love the fact that she expects high standards and rewards for the right reasons. We tell anyone who asks what a great club and teacher she is and what fab benefits their children will receive from joining.”
