The Green Room Bistro

Whether you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a romantic dinner, meal with friends or business meeting over lunch, North Hill Hotel's Green Room Bistro is the ideal option.

Wherever possible, local, seasonal produce is sourced to create a regularly changing, delicious menu. The bistro's fish dishes are predominantly sourced from Mersea Island, and change daily to feature the finest, freshest seafood available.

The Green Room Bistro's menus also feature traditional breeds of meat from various Essex farmlands, such as rare breed Long Horn and Red Poll beef, Salt Marsh lamb and free range Blythburgh and Gloucester Old Spot pork.

Mayonnaise and dressings are made using extra virgin rape seed oil from Hall Farm, Suffolk.

Food is served seven days a week; sample A La Carte dishes include:

• New season local 'Fiveways' warm asparagus, poached egg and hollandaise sauce
• Slow cooked rabbit, wild mushrooms, toasted hazelnuts, baby spinach and tagliatelli pasta
• Pan fried skate wing, crispy pancetta and almond butter, served with new potatoes and a side salad
• Garden pea, asparagus, mint and parmesan risotto with side salad
• Raspberry ripple cheesecake with a raspberry coulis
• Rich chocolate tart, served with homemade mango ice cream

Alternatively, why not opt for the lighter lunch menu?

• Traditional beer battered fish, thick cut chips, minted mushy peas and homemade tartare sauce
• Poached peach, watermelon, pumpkin seeds and radish salad, served with Jersey Royales
• Open sandwich of cold roast sirloin of beef, watercress, tomato and creamed horseradish, served with French fries

Original Hall House for hire

Nestled at the back of the North Hill Hotel, is a rare example of an original, 15^th century Hall House, which has been completely renovated to house four new hotel rooms, additional space in the Bistro and a brand new function and meeting room.

All work has been carried out with the utmost sympathy to the property's character and history, and has resulted in a beautiful function room that is the perfect setting for meetings, celebrations and small weddings of up to thirty people.
