Hi. I'm Ian Beardsall. Dip. Couns (MBACP, MBPA, CCC), an Award Winning Counselling Tharapist and creator of "BATs eat NATs".

This is my very first blog so I'm not expecting an ward for this, although I am hoping to be able to introduce myself to you, and tell you a little of what I do.

I started working with clients back in 2004, and have help numerous indivuals and couples come to terms with many issues which have prevented them from moving on in their lives.

I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to work with many issues that I often feel I could write a book. Of course, I wouldn’t, as what is said to me is completely confidential and as I say to my clients’ “what’s said in the room stays in the room”.

I’m hoping to share the knowledge I have in order to further help individuals, and I hope my blogs will enable me to do so.

The training I have received to date is varied, as are the individuals I work with. Although those individuals come to me with various issues, most are wanting the same thing … to feel good about themselves. “I just want to feel happy" or "content” is what I hear so very often. This is very much the ‘destination’ for many of us, what is different is the vehicle we choice to take us their. By asking ourselves “what would that give us?”, or “how would that help me right now?” we soon uncover the real meaning to what we are seeking. I guess my work is all about helping those individuals become more self aware through personal development, thus finding out for themselves what they are really wanting and what ‘mode of transport’ they wish to use.

If your attitude is not right, and even if you are surrounded by good friends and the best facilities, you cannot be happy. This is why mental attitude is more important than external conditions. despite this, it seems to me that many people are more concerned about their external conditions and neglect the inner attitude of mind. I suggest that that we pay more attention to our inner qualities.
