Tai Chi [ properly Tai Chi Chuan ] originates in China and is a complete training process aiming to liberate the body's internal energy [ chi ].
Most practise for the benefits to physical and mental health but - at an advanced level - Tai Chi is also a potent ' inner ' martial art.
I can testify to the improvement in my posture , balance and general fitness .To my complete surprise I have also found that mentally I have become calmer , more focused and more positive .
Don't hesitate to try it at Dave's Studio .

I have being practising Tai Chi for a year now and have found something that not only gets rid of the days stresses and strains but is without doubt resolving some long term injuries. Dave brings skill, patience and humour to each session which makes it a great environment to learn and a pleasure to attend.

Tai chi is martial art, but practising its slow and flowing movements, brings a lot of health benefits. Dave is an excellent teacher. He explains the martial art side of the move so you know what you are trying to achieve, but also has the patience to explain over again, and again! I would recommend everyone to try Tai chi .

I have arthritus in my lower spine and knees, and my GP recommended I find a ʼgoodʼ Tai Chi class, as it would do me far more good than painkillers! My friend found Daveʼs class, and we joined. The benefits have been tremendous. It has really helped with the pain, and I often attend with a headache, only to find I havenʼt got one by the time I have finished. The classes are fun, and Dave is a really good tutor. He has infinite patience, and takes the time to explain things clearly. I would advise anyone, regardless of age to join. Everyone is made welcome, and the benefits are enormous for both mind and body.

I joined Tai Chi in January 2007 and despite finding it difficult to begin with (it all looked so complicated) have found that with patience and perseverance (two things I donʼt normally have an abundance of) I have managed to progress much further than I initially believed I could.

I have continued to attend through shoulder and knee problems (wholeheartedly supported by the physiotherapist) and have found that both have improved enormously.

Donʼt be fooled by the perception that something so slow cannot be of benefit - it takes a huge amount of energy and concentration to do tai chi, and the benefits are manifold.

The classes are focussed but also FUN, and I would recommend Tai Chi at the Studion without hesitation.

I found Tai Chi a great way to relax and improve co-ordination and mental focus but thereʼs many other benefits anyone could derive from studying it.
I was lucky enough be one of Daveʼs students in the old studio and found him to be an excellent teacher.
He takes the time not only to show you the moves but to describe their application and individually ensure you perform each of them correctly.
Iʼve experienced other Tai Chi classes but none come close to Daveʼs class in terms of the quality of teaching.

Tai chi is an excellent form of exercise. Donʼt be deceived because the moves are done slowly. After a while you will find that your posture and balance have improved and you come calmer. The classes at the Studio are fun and informed, but that does not mean that sloppy moves are tolerated.! Dave is an excellent teacher and explains the reasoning behind the moves, so that you can understand why you are moving in a partiular way. I recommend that you give it a try. Keep up the good work Dave!

I gave up kung fu after I dislocated my knee cap in my early 20s. 18 years later, and still interested in martial arts I thought that I would try tai chi. Dave is friendly and his classes are interesting. I have been training with him for nearly two years now and I always feel enthused and motivated. You feel the benefits quickly and the problems that I had as a result of my knee injury have disappeared. I can strongly recommend Daveʼs classes to all.

The best form of gentle exercise, combined with mental relaxation I have ever come across.
The best teacher, who makes the class fun, stimulating and rewarding. Dave has the knack of making everyone feel comfortable with what they can achieve.
The best evening out, doing me good at the same time.
Long may it continue.

An excellent form of exercise for your mind and body, whatever your age or level of fitness. Dave is an excellent teacher and helps you to learn that Tai Chi is an art form (heʼs a joy to watch) but that strength and power are what you can learn to acquire. Iʼm hooked!

Iʼve been studying with Dave at the Tai Chi Studio for over 4 years now and it still keeps me coming back. Dave is an excellent teacher, easily able to get across even the most complex of ideas. The good thing about Tai Chi is that you donʼt need to be particularly fit or in a particular age group so it can appeal to everyone so I recommend you all give it a go!

I have been a student of Daveʼs for over 3yrs now having previously trained in karate for a decade. I have found that tai chi is as much a martial art as it is a way of staying fit and healthy. It gives you a wide range of benefits both mental and physical but has to be experienced for yourself as it works on everyone differently depending on your needs and weaknesses. The tai chi studio allows for this growth with its friendly, relaxed atmosphere and expert teaching from Dave. Give it a go and feel its effects for yourself.

I joined Daves classes 12 months ago.
I had been suffering from mental and physical exhaustion and needed to do something to recharge my batteries.
Tai Chi has done that and with Daves expert tuition and patience I have enjoyed learning the forms and have felt a great benifit in my energy levels.
Dave covers all aspects of Tai Chi, physical, mental and spiritual and makes the learning fun too.
I attend twice a week and have become quite hooked!!!
It was one of the best things I have done the day I plucked up courage to take that first step to my first lesson.
So if you are thinking of trying Tai Chi dont hesitate, come along and who knows .....you may become hooked too!!

The atmosphere in the studio is relaxing and friendly which helps to amplify Dave’s informative and disarming teacher manner. The benefits of Tai Chi expressed themselves within me both physiologically and psychologically; I found a marked improvement in my ability to focus mentally on challenging tasks and the increased strength I gained helped to bolster my self-worth.
If you’re reading this then you’re interested in exploring Tai Chi and Dave Allen as an instructor is second to none, the message he’s advocating maybe uncomplicated but this mustn’t be confused it being easy. Go on, go and have a look x

Tai Chi is probably one of the best ways of toning your body and learning to relax but it also helps to regulate blood pressure and is of benefit to sufferers of arthritis and rheumatism too. This is an excellent studio and Dave makes sure itʼs fun too.
