The Carlton Information

With so many public houses, bars and inns apparently revelling in cacophony, as outlets for youthful exuberance, it's both refreshing and reassuring to find pubs like The Carlton and escape the furore for a while.  A former hotel for over 40 years, The Carlton in Clacton-on-Sea was recently bought by experienced publican Ron Swanborough who has launched an ongoing programme of improvements to develop the pub, to include conversion of the car park to a beer garden and smoking area.

If what  you're looking for by way of  bars or pubs is a child-friendly, grown-up, mellow atmosphere, then The Carlton, which is already popular with local residents and families who appreciate the warm and friendly yet  calm and pleasant surroundings, is a great place to unwind.  The bar serves a full range of wines, spirits and beers and also real ales such as Greene King IPA. - what could be nicer on a sunny day than relaxing in the beer garden with a pint of your favourite brew? There's weekend entertainment in the form of Sunday karaoke and live music from the 50s, 60s & 70s on Saturdays featuring local singers as well as talent from further afield who, in the Clacton-on-Sea area, are exclusive to The Carlton.
