Rykneld Homes Breaks the Mould in Chesterfield

The recent snow and ice didn’t stop over 50 local trades people from attending the March meeting of the Chesterfield Construction Trades Network (CCTN) at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium last Friday.

The good turnout heard from Rykneld Homes Senior Procurement Officer, Jenny Daff, about the launch their new ‘Dynamic Procurement System’ (DPS) which has a specific emphasis on supporting local trades and businesses!

This new tendering process is split into 2 distinct areas; Building and Construction, which commences in April of this year, whilst Professional and Business Services will follow on later in the summer. Local businesses can then register online, to find out if they meet relevant required criteria and what they have to put in place, if they don’t. After registering, businesses will be notified when tenders are released that match the criteria they have signed up to.

The new process marks a move away from the usual process which often see's large contracting companies, from out of the area, sub-contracting the work to smaller businesses, which may, or may not, come from the local area. In all, this seems to be a very promising start to what will hopefully be a change in the way local authorities source their supplies and contractors.

Next month’s meeting, to which all local construction trades and suppliers are welcome, will be addressed by Chesterfield MP, Toby Perkins, and is to be held at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield S41 8NZ, on Friday April 26th between 3.00pm and 5.00pm.

Entry is FREE and refreshments (including a licensed bar) will be available to purchase.  Reserve your place at www.ChesterfieldCTN.co.uk .
