Olympic Gold medallist Jessica Ennis is coming to Chesterfield College next Friday the 16th November to officially launch its new reception, learning centre and heart space building.

The top heptathlete who has just been named the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the year, will unveil a plaque marking the completion of the build and as a mark of Jessica’s success this summer the College is also renaming its Sports Hall after her. Transformed over the summer, the new building provides students with a space to study, eat, socialise and receive advice on their studies and career path.

“We’re really pleased with the new building”, explains Principal Trevor Clay, “In addition to our Costa Coffee it gives students a bright, modern, informal space in which they can study and socialise. It feels like the heart of the College now, hence its name the ‘heart space’.

“Everyone is delighted that Jessica is able to launch the facility officially for us. Over the years Jessica has worked hard to achieve her goals and is a fantastic role model for young people everywhere. Anybody who would like to come down to the event is more than welcome; we’ll be starting at 5pm outside the new reception building on Infirmary Road.”
