Lack of Concentration Costs Spireites At Tranmere

Around 700 Spireite fans turned up to cheer the league 2 Champions on, as they started their league 1 campaign. The away fans were in full voice out singing the home fans for the majority of the game. Chesterfield took the game to Tranmere, kicking towards the home end, some good passing and movement, but couldn't open up the defence.

The second half Town struggled to create chances, with Lester looking an isolated figure upfront on his own. Then came a cross in, and a free header than he put away more often than not, but could only manage to put it over the bar. Moments later a throwing came in on the left hand side, which was allowed to bounce to Weir in space, managed to toe poke past Tommy Lee. It was a poor goal to concede, the Spireites had switched off, in a game were both keepers had hardly been troubled.

Suddenly the Tranmere fans found their voice, a crowd that needs to be lifted by the team, rather than lifting the team. The Spireite fans were still in great voice never giving up on their team encouraging at every moment they could. The Spireite fans will be needed as much this season as they were last. Often becoming the important twelfth man, giving team a huge lift when they needed it.

Sheridan as been tirelessly looking to strengthen the squad, and knows he is short in attack, he will not take second best, he will only sign players that will improve the squad. A few fans are saying we are going down, not good enough for league 1. I have never known a team relegated after one game. So please get behind the team and the manager, who has brought us league 1 football.
