Still proud to be a Spireite

Another battling performance from the Spireites, saw them draw against Oldham, in a match that could have gone either way. Bowery gave Town the lead from when he ran onto a cross from Mendy, hitting it sweetly with his left over the keeper and into the net. With half time approaching Matt Smith scored with an header to put the sides level. Although both teams had chances to win the game it finished 1 all.

With an Attendance of 6723, this shows that the fans are still behind the team, to get that attendance and be bottom of the league is incredible. Having twice taken a thousand fans to the last two away matches, this is why I am proud to be a Spireite. This can only have a positive affect on the team, and give them the determination and belief that anything is possible.

The Fans have done their bit, now its time for the board to reward this by putting their hands their pockets to give Sheridan the funds to build a team not only that will keep us up, but also become an established league One team.

With Exeter the next game at home and with Lester back, the team should get all 3 points and get our season underway. Trotman is now settling in, he has been much improved in his last 3 games having gained match fitness. He takes no prisoners and the opposition forwards know they're in for a tough game, he wins everything in the air and I think he could become a real fans favourite. We still need a right back and a defensive central Midfielder to give the defence the protection they need. A forward to partner Lester although Bowery has played really well recently and is starting to show real promise. Boden has also had a big impact on the team when coming off the bench. The team are very capable of scoring goals, it's just defensively the team needs to improve.
