The Town fans were excited to see Tommy Lee back, although the excitement was short lived, he injured himself in the warm up. Which mean't he couldn't start, so Fleming had to take his place.
The Spireites made a great start, Whittaker crossed from the left, Mendy pulled off a lovely dummy, allowing the ball to fall to Clarke, who slotted home.
The lead didn't last long as Hartlepool were putting pressure on the Chesterfield goal, a soft punch from Fleming fell to Murray to head home. Another defensive mistake, the team failing to clear the ball, got punished by a lovely goal from Poole from 25 yards out. This mean't that the home side trailed 2-1 at half time.
Another defensive mistake led to another goal for the pool, just 3 minutes into the 2nd half. Holden raised Spirites hopes when he stabbed home, after Whittaker drove it into the box.
In the end the game finished 3-2 to Hartlepool, defensive mistakes again proving too costly, conceding 9 goals in the last 3 league games. When Chesterfield had their good spell at the beginning of September gaining 10 points from four games, they only conceded one goal. Unless things tighten up at the back, it is going to be a long struggle for the Spireites.
Mendy was my Man of the Match always a constant threat and the main outlet for the attacks on the Hartlepool goal. Holden was a close second, a solid game from the defender and also a goal from him, being in the right place at the right time.
Next two away games Rochdale followed by Brenford, again 4 points are needed from these games to get the Spireites back up the table. Rochdale being the best bet according to the history books, being the most succesful ground away from home for the Spireites.
