This is my fund raising page for our local charity Ashgate Hospice. If you click on this you will see exactly what I am doing and who for. You also get a bonus as you get to see me in my bright running gear which is a comedy plus for you!
I never ever thought I would be doing this, but I am running, yes running the Sheffield half marathon on May 27th this year. The run itself is 20 kilometres, approx 13 miles, through the streets of Sheffield, and will be a massive personal achievement for me.
Those of you who have known me for some time will know that I havent ever been classed as an "athlete" and hardly had the physique to run 20,000 meters.
However, with the help and encouragement of some friends and family, last year I decided to change my life forever and went on a very strict diet and exercise regime, helping me lose almost 5 stone and get fit for the first time in my life!
So, along with this, and my stubborn determination, I have entered myself into the Sheffield half marathon which will be my first ever run of any distance. I am training 6 times a week very hard both inside the gym and road running and slowly building up to the 20k mark. the most I have ran so far is 12 kilometres, and have managed 10KM in under 58 minutes.
I aim to complete the run in under 2 hours, which will be a very hard task to do but I dont simply want to turn up and stroll round, I'm going to run every step of the way and finish this race in under 2 hours!!
I have decided to run this for charity and I have chosen a local charity called Ashgate Hospice (click the link for more information), some may have heard of this, others maybe not, but this is a local independent charity in Chesterfield which provides vital care to people who have life limiting illnesses and try and make life as comfortable as possible for them.
I know we are in a recession, supposedly, but every night I leave the gym the cinema is full, the queue for McDonalds is huge and Frankie and Benny's car park is always bursting. I go to shopping centres and people are queuing 20 deep to buy a £4 coffee! So please help me raise money for a fantastic cause and sponsor me on this run, support a fantastic charity and encourage this once fat lad to achieve a massive personal achievement. £1, £5, £10, £20, £50, £100, it all adds up and you have my stubborn word every single one of the 20,000 meters will be run, not walked!
Please can you help me and support myself and the charity, I want to raise as much money as possible and need as much motivation as I can possibly get to make sure I complete this under 2 hours!
