AS Redrow prepares to launch the latest phase of its flagship Ledsham Garden Village local groups are being invited to apply for a share of £10,000.

Redrow has previously shared £15,000 between 20 projects in the area via two voluntary community funds linked to the new neighbourhood taking shape on Ledsham Road.

A fresh phase of 80 properties is due to launch next month (February), with three new show homes to showcase the designs.

Redrow is celebrating the milestone by inviting good causes in the area to apply for a share of further community funding.

Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), explained: “Ledsham Garden Village is a long-term development spanning many years.  We’ve already sold more than 100 homes, including the original show homes that inspired many of our homeowners. We’ll soon be opening three new show homes – a three-bedroom Warwick and Oxford and Cambridge style four-bedroom designs – and want to mark the occasion by launching a new community fund.

“We’ve already helped 20 local projects and now we want to hear people’s suggestions of how else we might be able to help support the local community.”

Ledsham garden Village will eventually become a sustainable new community of up to 2,000 homes, including two existing Redrow developments, Oaklands and Sycamore Green.

Redrow’s community funds are in addition to more than £13 million the homebuilder has committed to invest in the local area to support the growth of the neighbourhood. This funding has been allocated towards a new primary school, off-site school provision, new and improved bus routes, better playing fields / play facilities, and improvements to local shops and health facilities. There will also be a total of 500 affordable homes built and 100 acres of open space.

Previous beneficiaries of Redrow’s Ledsham community funds include Sutton Green Primary School; The Star Factory theatre school; St Mary of the Angels Catholic Primary School; 1st Great Sutton Scout Group; Ellesmere Port Guide Division; Hinderton School; Passion for Learning; Deevine Dance Group Royal British Legion Little Sutton and Ledsham Community Football.

“The idea of the community fund is to support small projects at the heart of local life by making a number of small grants that can make a big difference,” Jason added.

“We want local people to tell us what is needed in the neighbourhood and how we can help them make a difference. It’s all part of our commitment to creating thriving, sustainable communities where people love to live.”

Those wishing to nominate a project for Redrow to consider supporting via the Ledsham Community Fund should email redrowfund@activepr.co.uk to request an application form stating ‘Ledsham Community Fund’ in the subject line. The deadline for completed applications is February 22.
