We found the Red House, in the heart of Chester serving fabulous food, great service and with spectacular views over the River Dee and Chester.
Took a business visitor from the US to try good local modern British cuisine, and was not disappointed. Great view, nice ambience, with friendly helpful service........the food was pretty good too. Well presented and cooked to suit. A measure of its success is that there was a reasonable number of diners even on a out of season Tuesday evening. A good sign! I can strongly recommend, especially the lamb and duck. However, I cannot comment on how they would cope on a very busy night. As for the visitor - He was impressed. The first time he had eaten lamb! But he does have a cattle ranch...... C Loudman
I'd been to The Red House a few years ago, and was disappointed by the food, however a friend recommended that I give it another go. I have to say the service and food now is brilliant. The restaurant has stunning views of the River Dee, which once was the main draw for customers, but now I can recommend it to friends, knowing the food and service matches the setting. If you’ve not been to the Red House I would definitely give it a whirl. C Harvey
Myself and my partner were staying at the Premier Inn Chester central. I had googled The Red House and from the website it looked amazing. We decided to walk from the Premier. After walking for what seemed like forever, we finally found it. It was 6pm and was due to close for staff party at 6:30pm. We went in, just for a peek really, and was met by Steve. We explained that we had walked from Premier as we wanted to eat there. He gave us free drinks for our trouble. We sat in the garden until it had to be shut for staff party and he then gave us a lift back into Chester, dropping us off at a very nice steak house by the river, amazing.Daisy
I visited The Red House last night with my girlfriend and had the best experience I've ever had when having a meal. As soon as we walked through the front door we were greeted with a very warm welcome by one of the managers, he introduced himself and got us a drink on the lovely sofas in the lounge area, straight away we knew we had picked a good pleace to eat. The menu was great, spoilt for choice and the way everything is described makes the food sound amazing, and it tastes better than it sounds. I had the duck spring rolls to start and they were stunning and my girlfriend had the trio of smoked salmon which looked superb. For my main i had the nicest fillet steak i have ever had, it was just stunning, you could really see the quality of the produce they use, and my girlfriend and the Shelfish Tagliatelle which looked fantastic! By this point we were quite full so we decided to share the Epicurean of Desserts, and wow what a dessert. It's five mini desserts in one! The service throughout the meal was fast, attentive and the staff could not do enough for you and most of all they were friendly and down to earth and even had the time to talk to us even when busy! Needless to say we loved this place, it's gorgeous in a fantastic location by the river and inside the restaurant is equally as good. We will definately come back when we visit chester!D Evans
