From the minute the man with the top hat opens the door to the minute he says goodbye you are in heaven. Unfortunately we didn't sleep here this time but only arrived for a meal. And what a meal it was too. From canapes to sweet - they were absolutely divine as always. The service is nothing short of obsessive. With wine/water topped up in seconds. Bread, all 20 of them, on offer over and over again. The cheeses, all 30 of them described for your delectation and delight. Your napkins folded as you go to the powder room and your chair back when you arrive back to the table. Drinks brought in a blink of an eye. Enough freindliness but most of all professionilsm. If pure luxury is not what you want stay away. Well done Chester Grosvernor and the staff in Radley Restaurant, not forgetting the chef of course, you are again my heroes. Well done... Susie
Booked a 3 night stay for my wife’s birthday. The hotel is exceptional, staff are excellent - highly professional without being stuffy. The hotel is everything you’d expect from a 5 star - our room (Superior King) was fantastic, the hotel décor was very good, and the there was a general air of calm that contributed to a very relaxing stay. My wife enjoyed a half-day Spa experience and was very impressed. If you can, have a meal in the Michelin starred Simon Radley Restaurant - worth every penny. Chester is a very good city break, catering for most needs - historic, good food, and shopping. On the whole, an exceptional long weekend break.GJD
What a fantastic stay from the minute we were greeted by George to the moment they brought our car back around for us the next morning it was fantastic 1st class keep it up. It was our Mum's birthday and they even put a cake in her room for arrival What Class.Charlie
This is our fifth visit to the Chester Grosvenor Hotel and the service etc is still as good as ever. We were there as we had booked for a night to celebrate a birthday. Our booking included the room and a meal in the Bistro. We booked the same room as we always do and even requested the table we prefer in the Bistro. This hotel cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and special. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the finer things in life. J Hart
We ate here just as Simon Radley got his second Michelin star. The three of us chose the tasting menu, with accompanying wines for some of the courses. The presentation was very classy, with a high staff to diner ratio. Coordinated lifting of plate covers. This was certainly "fine dining". The tasting menu itself was a fun experience, but my palate was only truly wowed by a couple of the courses. A highlight was the two-tier tray of petit-fours that came with the coffee. The Sommelier was friendly, chatty and knowledgeable. The wines suggested for the courses were well chosen, especially enjoyed the Gevrey-Chambertin. Vaux
My husband took me here for Valentine's, we had the meal that was set for that night, the evening started with a glass of champagne and canapes in the bar we were then seated and all I can say is that every course was wonderful especially the Sea Bass, the wine which went with each course matched the food perfectly. We asked as we are not dessert lovers if we could have cheese instead which was no problem, they asked which ones we preferred and we asked for a plate to share, when the cheese course came they brought us out a plate each and they were really great and instead of a glass of sweet wine with the desserts we were offered a glass of port. I cannot fault this place great staff, wonderful surroundings really good food. Noo
Mostly what one would expect of a Michelin star restaurant: comfort, careful service, knowledgeable staff, unique menu, excellent presentation, balanced dishes all be they quite small, and of course a hefty bill! The array of breads was spectacularly impressive, until one realised I couldn’t eat them all. A most pleasant evening and I may well return to sample other breads. Nic
This is a great Restaurant giving the same standard of service and consistent food quality. We have never been let down by a meal and they do some great Menu deals regularly.Andrew L
It is always a joy to walk through the doors of your wonderful hotel, and especially when staying (if only for one night). The attention to detail, friendliness and professional approach form all staff is superb. We have been very fortunate to travel and stay in many wonderful hotels in other parts of the world, but none compare with the complete pampering experience we always receive at The Chester Grosvenor.
My wife and I celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary at your hotel and I am writing to express our thanks to you and your staff for making it such a wonderful occasion. It was only a small dinner party but from the moment we entered the Grosvenor we were treated like royalty. Not only were we given an upgrade to a beautiful suite but the service given by your reception staff was excellent, efficient, cheerful and polite. Truly five star.
Our memories of the welcome at the door and reception were warmly seamless. My wife’s arrival in her powered wheelchair was beautifully managed and everyone was thoughtfully helpful. The two memorable evenings spent dining in the Simon Radley Restaurant and coffee and petit fours in the bar will remain with us forever.
