A native of Chester recommended this restaurant. We weren't disappointed. It seems to focus on good food & good service, which surely should be at the core of every restaurant. Both times we dined the place was busy & buzzing with atmosphere. The service was good, with staff friendly and efficient. On the Thursday night I decided to opt for 2 starters, instead of a starter and main, which was no problem. I enjoyed the goats cheese but the polenta with parmesan and a creamy mushroom sauce was outstanding. My partner was equally impressed with his pork cassoulet and duck confit and we both devoured the french cheese platter as our final course. Other tempting dessert options were available. The quality of the vegetables was suberb, however my partner would have welcomed a slightly larger portion. Overall very good value, £48 for 3 starters, 1 garlic bread, plenty of french bread, 1 main, 1 cheese platter, 1 small glass of wine and 1 bottle of house red. We returned Friday lunchtime and were equally satisfied at the amazing price of £8.50 per head for 2 courses. So refreshing that our request for tap water, rather than wine, was not met with the usual derisory glance and was promptly provided and the basket of french bread was replinished without request, at no charge. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant and would return ourselves.

This French Restaurant is the best - excellent tender steak, great dauphinoise and the creme brulee can only be beaten in France.
