Arboreal - conservation and creation
Nick has been involved in horticulture most of his life and grew his first tree from seed before he started school; his first job was at Kew in 1989 growing Orchids. He knows from experience that success in horticulture does not come about from short one off jobs but a long term approach developing a good relationship with clients and a good familiarity with their gardens.
As a qualified teacher he values education greatly as part of a culture of long term consultation with clients. Sharing information and ideas is a central part of his work.
Nick Gilliam - Member of the RFS, the Arboriculturists Association and the Cheshire and North Wales Orchid Society
There are two aspects that underpin everything that Arboreal does, this is conservation and creation.
Conservation
Conservation involves the maintenance of specimen trees, the promotion of native British species when planting and the restoration of traditional features such as hedge rows.
Creation
Creation involves garden design for existing and new areas, no matter how big or small, that can house unusual plants, or provide a habitat for wildlife.
