In Spring 2014, Alex is aiming to become the youngest Briton ever to climb Mount Everest (8850m) via the Southeast ridge (South side) in Nepal. This will take place as a 70-day expedition in a team led by Tim Mosedale; the same mountaineer that inspired Alex many years ago. He will also become the 2nd youngest Briton to climb Everest, with previous record-holders including well-known adventurer Bear Grylls.

Everest 2014 ‘Climb4Change’ is a double record-breaking charitable project founded by Alex Staniforth, 18, from Kelsall nr Chester.

After carrying the London 2012 Olympic torch through Chester, reaching the summit of Mont Blanc and raising over £8000 for cancer and endangered animals charities, Alex Staniforth is aiming to make history in Spring 2014 by becoming the youngest Briton to reach the summit of Mount Everest, 8848m, via the Southeast Ridge route in Nepal.

To train for Everest he will be climbing Mount Baruntse, 7129m, in October/November 2013, set to become the youngest Briton ever to climb it.

The aim of ‘Climb4Change’ is to raise money for important charities and causes and inspire young people not to follow the crowd; to be the change they want to see in the world.

Alex will be raising funds for CLIC Sargent, helping young people affected by Cancer, and REACT, helping connect people to endangered animals and make a difference. 


The fundraising target for his charities is £29,035


In his own life, Alex Staniforth has overcome Epilepsy, bullying, stammering, low self-confidence, depression and panic attacks- and is now set to embark on his ultimate challenge that will push his limits.
