Anything can be posted as long as it is free, legal and appropriate for all ages. To ‘OFFER’ something, the member emails the group and waits for responses. Once received, the member can then choose who gets the item, set up a collection time and marks their item as ‘TAKEN’. For group members looking for something in particular, they can post a ‘WANTED’ message.
Freecycle encourages the public to rid their homes of items and promotes community involvement through helping others. The goal of the site is to reduce consumerism and the need to manufacture goods, and ultimately lessen the waste impact on the earth.
