Good luck in opening week to everyone at The Wilson who’s worked so hard on Cheltenham's new art gallery and museum!

Here at Best of Cheltenham, we were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of The Wilson last week – here’s what we saw…

This new contemporary building design offers plenty of space for everyone who wants to explore and engage with both the new and the previously unseen collections on show.

Don’t miss the majestic glass sculptures from Colin Reid, a local Stroud artist with an international reputation, shown in one of the first exhibitions – ‘Casting Brilliance’.  For those inspired by the exhibitions, there is also an extensive program of talks and workshops looking at all aspects of art and glass.

Plans for future exhibitions include the return of Rodin’s Kiss for Valentine’s Day; 2014 is the 100th anniversary of Rodin’s visit to Cheltenham.

For younger artists, the Foyle Learning centre now offers plenty of space to host schools and family workshops.  For simple relaxation space try the new bistro on the ground floor. Further plans include a piazza area looking out to St Marys Church and the children’s library.

Take a look for yourself at Cheltenham’s newest space - The Wilson is now open!
