I was the solicitor acting for the National Trust and therefore I am able to comment from the perspective of the solicitor dealing on the other side of the matter from Cindy Bexfield.
I personally found it extremely helpful having Cindy representing the owners of seven of the residential properties. She called all her clients together, met with them out of hours to deal with the matter at a time convenient, pulled together a collective view from the residents as to their needs and requirements and then acted as the voice of the residents in negotiating these needs with the Trust.
The legal issues involved were quite complex and involved getting to grips with many different issues, such as changing arrangements for the payment of service charges, understanding how restrictive covenants were affecting the properties and how these could be modified, dealing with issues such as understanding and then modifying easements for drainage and access. Numerous documents were involved which needed to dovetail together and required extensive negotiation.
I found Cindy to be enthusiastic about the project throughout. She was helpful, constructive and pragmatic in being able to see the purpose in reaching a mutually beneficial agreement and committed to achieving it.
