Lumière’s Chef Patron Jon Howe has been invited to join an impressive line up of talented young chefs taking part in the prestigious Young Guns Festival. This unique event places five of the UK’s most talked about upcoming chefs in charge of the kitchen at The Pass, one of the top restaurants in the UK, at the exclusive South Lodge Hotel this week. The chefs have been chosen for their exceptional talent and outstanding backgrounds and are considered to be those who are shaping the future of British cooking. Each chef will create a six course tasting menu to showcase their talents to an audience of food enthusiasts and journalists, with each chef being giving their own evening over the course of the week from Tuesday 28th September to Saturday 2nd October.

This year’s line up will include; Tuesday 28th September: Richard Allen, Tassili, Grand Hotel, Jersey, Wednesday 29th September: Ben Goldsmith, The Talbot Inn, West Sussex, Thursday 30th September: Russell Bateman, Colettes, The Grove, Chandler's Cross, Hertfordshire, Friday 1st October: Mark Poynton, Restaurant Alimentum, Cambridge, Saturday 2nd October: Jon Howe, Lumière, Cheltenham.

Jon will be tantalising and intriguing the taste buds of his guests with an imaginative six-course tasting menu to bring the event to its grand finale on Saturday 2nd October. Diners will be delighted by Diver caught Scallops served with Crispy belly pork, cumin Caramel and a puree of orange, carrot & anise. Followed with a carpaccio of Choggia Beetroot & Goats Curd. Loch Durat Salmon & Dartmoor venison will complete the savory elements of his menu. His mouthwatering desserts will include a playful Yoghurt Mousse with a Blackberry Sphere and his piece de resistance; a molten dark chocolate fondant, served with white coffee ice cream & parsnip milk.

Jon Howe was delighted to have been given this opportunity and is busy perfecting his menu for the evening. “It is such a privilege to have been asked to take part in the Young Guns Festival. It is fantastic to be considered as one of our industry’s rising stars and this will be a great opportunity to take what we have worked so hard to create at Lumière to a wider audience, in such a unique environment.”
