A local business has reached a milestone by donating £20,000 to charity, with more than 20 organisations in the area benefitting.
Terry Jeffery, franchise store owner of Cartridge World stores on High Street, Cheltenham and London Road, Gloucester, has launched appeals with a number of local charities, organisations and churches over the six years his business has been running. In return for their collections of empty printer cartridges, Terry’s Cartridge World stores make donations towards their funds. Each reusable cartridge can attract a donation of up to £2.50, depending on the make and type.
Charities which have participated include the Pied Piper Appeal for Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals, which has put the money towards building a wooden galleon in the children’s ward of the Gloucester Royal Hospital, Multiple Sclerosis Cheltenham and Guide Dogs for the Blind as well as a number of local scout groups and churches.
Terry Jeffery said: “Printer cartridges are simple and easy to collect - after all they’re used daily in businesses, schools and homes. We make a donation for all reusable cartridges received, and then they are recycled, rather than being sent to landfill.
“What’s best about the scheme is that everyone benefits. The charities and organisations earn funds to help them in their activities, empty printer cartridges are refilled rather than being sent to landfill, and our customers make substantial savings by buying refilled printer cartridges at Cartridge World.
