 Heard of The Little Darwins Day Nursery? You will have by next week!

 

The new £1 million nursery school, called The Little Darwins Day Nursery will open next week, set within the grounds of Rettendon Primary School in Main Road, Chelmsford.

 

The Chelmsford nursery is to provide childcare for up to 90 youngsters anf finishing touches have been  made to kitting out the plush brick-built building, which has replaced an old demountable cabin previously based on the site.

 

Little Darwins will provide:

 

  • Weekday care for tots aged three months to school age children from 7am to 7pm for 51 weeks of the year,
  • After school ‘wrap around care’
  • Holiday clubs
  • Swimming pool and gym
  • Self contained baby room
  • Outdoor spaces
  • Two large playrooms
  • Milk kitchen
  • Foundation classroom

 

Funding for the £1million building has come from a grant from Essex County Council and the nursery is being run by the primary school’s governors as a community interest project.

 

This means profits raised will go back into the facility and the Rettendon community.

 

Kathryn Evans, a member of the governing body at Rettendon Primary School, said: “The new nursery is beautiful and we are thrilled that we secured the money for the scheme. It wasn’t an easy process and in the current economic climate we feared we wouldn't get the funding.”
