Welcome to Helen Rollason Cancer Charity

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. A charitable organisation based at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. It is the legacy of Helen Rollason MBE, who was a pioneering female BBC sport presenter and broadcaster who died of cancer aged 43. Our cancer support centres are vital in helping patients live with cancer while our cancer research teams undertake studies into the disease and offer clinical trials. The charity does not receive any government funding.

The charity operates the following two services:

  • Cancer Support Centres: Cancer support centres offer help to cancer patients, their families and friends, through a range of services including counselling, support groups and complementary therapies.

  • Cancer Research: The charity funds research nurses caring for patients on clinical drug trials. The trials offer cancer patients access to treatments not currently available on the NHS. We also fund a research laboratory which is undertaking pioneering studies into cancer research.
