Chelmsford MenCap has been established since 1951. We are Chelmsford's leading local Learning Disability charity and are predominantly run by volunteers. Chelmsford Mencap provide support, services and information to our members.
Although Chelmsford MenCap are affiliated to Royal Mencap we are not in any way funded by them.
Chelmsford Mencap's mission as a charitable organisation is to promote the advancement of people with a learning disability and to provide support for their families, friends and carers enabling those with a learning disability to live as full a life as possible and achieve the highest possible level of integration within the Chelmsford community.
We help to increase public awareness of the abilities and needs of people with learning disabilities and the problems and needs of their families and carers.
We provide up to date information by way of newsletters and we provide recreation and leisure facilities via the Gateway Club, Gateway Kidz Club, Daybreak Scheme.
