Relaxed and informal bar and live music venue. A great place for private parties, live bands or a quiet lunchtime pint in comfortable surroundings; that's Carlisle's Club Victoria. Recently renovated, the Club has bars over 3 floors, and it's great place to relax with friends.

The Club Victoria has a great atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff. I have visited for drinks with friends, and also attended/played gigs there. The bar has a nice casual vibe with well priced drinks and beautiful decor, whilst the venue room downstairs makes for a great gig. The Club is definitely the place to be in Carlisle!
read moreThe Great British Pub is still alive. In fact here are two great ones just 15 minutes from Carlisle - the Highland Drove Inn Great Salkeld and the Cross Keys, Carleton. Call in and sample the fantastic food and drink on offer and remember that of all the public houses, bars and inns you could have visited, these are amongst the best!

I have been going to The Highland Drove Inn for over 10 years (I've just come back from England on my umpteenth trip) and have recommended the extra distance to my Canadian friends as top rated and worth the effort. Consistently excellent food (try the Nile perch). Terrific wine cellar. Amenable and friendly hosts and hostess. Unrushed atmosphere. Classic pub. Clean and comfortable rooms. Everything is as it should be and if I am anywhere near this establishment while in England, it becomes a destination of choice. I'll guarantee it!

Close to Carlisle Racecourse, and only minutes from the city centre, the Black Lion pub in Durdar offers a wonderful selection of ales, wines and spirits, and serves great quality food, freshly prepared from locally sourced produce. A great country location for your mid-day or evening meal, and a great atmosphere too the Black Lion is one of the friendliest Public Houses, Bars and Inns in Carlisle.

I called in, one Thursday mid-day, for a bar meal, and had trouble finding a parking place! Inside, it was packed, and the atmosphere inside was just great - a fantastic meal, and one of Carlisleʼs best kept secrets. 10 minutes from the town centre, and excellent! Tony S

The Sportsman Inn - bringing the heart of the country into Carlisle. One of Carlisle's oldest pubs, with a tradition of good food, good ales, and great service.
