With sun on the horizon we were up early in the Vickers household.  The sea was calling us and Aphrodite (sassy American Cocker) was beside herself with excitment – she loves the beach.
Breakfast over, into the car and off to New Quay.  Why New Quay?  Well we wanted to present Nige, owner of Traeth Bar and Grill his Certificates for almost the Most Loved Business in Cardigan and Teifi Valley (he was pipped at the post by Rolands Hairdressers – well done Rolands!)  But back to Traeth. Nige also earned another certificate for being in the top 5 nationally (whole UK) for his catering.  A great achievement Nige - outstanding work!

This is one of our favourite restaurants – the food is great and the view is stunning and today we just knew it would be fab as the sun was showing itself in all its glory.

We parked the car and took a walk along the cliff path towards Cwm Tydu.  The gorse along the coastal path was magnificent so very yellow!  It is about 4 miles to Cwm Tydu.  It is a fab place to see bottlenose dolphins and the Atlantic Grey seals!

The day was so clear we could see across to the mountains of Snowdonia.  Breathtaking.  We walked half way to Cwm Tydu and then back to Traeth Bar and Grill as our main objective was to present Nige with his Certificates.  As you see by the photo Nige is camera shy and it is Nina who is beautifully pictured raising a toast to their achievement with a glass of champagne – What style!

We decided to sit out on the balcony for a coffee and then took route and had couple of glasses of wine and could not resist Nige’s completely yummy venison terrine.  David had the Chicken Liver Parfait – Very very good.  The weather was so glorious we stayed for nearly 3 hours sitting in the sunshine – so warm.  Aphrodite had been allowed on this occasion to sit out on the deck with us and fortunately was exceedingly well behaved. Phew!

Aphrodite was then treated to a final run on the beach and then home.  What a wonderful day out!

Traeth is open Wednesday through to Sunday.  To book call 01545 509 057
