Sound of Music at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff

Bookmark and Share

Hands up anyone who lives in Cardiff and has never been to the Millennium Centre? I went to see the sound of music recently and it just reminded me again that we are so lucky to have this fantastic facilty on our door step.

For those of you may not know, the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay delivers better accoustic performance than any London theatre. There is not a flat surface to be seen, the walls jagged construction ensures that sound is transmitted throughout the theatre in absolute purity! And the seats are comfortably. The back stage set up is almost unique in that a complete stage set can be moved in place in one piece from outside without having to be assembled inside.

I just wish that the powers that be could have thought of a better name than the "Millenium Centre". I think that the name "Cardiff" should be within the title so that we can constantly remind the world of the treasure that we have here. Apparantly they are waiting for a sponsor, does anyone know if this is true?

Oh and by the way, Connie Fisher was great as were all of the cast.

It maybe sad but it's true, I am a huge Bruce Springstten fan and have seen him in concert many many times all over the world!

I too have been to the Millennium Centre and it is superb. As far as the name is concerned I would have thought that their Millennium grant would prohibit a sponsor name change for a period of time - the same constraint that the Millennium Stadium had when it was built. It seeems odd as the O2 Arena works well as a name but I think that was allowed as the original Millennium Dome was sold and therefore the restrictive covenants were removed. The Millennium Centre may be further restricted by the massive bail out by the Welsh Assembly last year. But like John I am not sure on the legal position...anyone know more definitively? report abuse...
