What about the weather in Cardiff and of course at Wimbledon.
I am a big fan having first visited Wimbledon in the hot Summer of 1976 as an impressionable 15 year old. I remember three things in particular about those championships:
- I had never seen so many beautiful women wearing so little in one place...
- The atmosphere around the courts was terriffic and you were really close to the action.
- How loud Pam Shriver's mother was who sat next to me on an outside court and screeched at Pammy who was at her first Wimbledon!
But I digress. Will Andy Murray achieve what no British man has achieved since Fred Perry won his third championship in 1936 - I hope so and how fitting that Andy wears a Fred Perry shirt!
Of course, if he can overcome Andy Roddick tomorrow - no mean feat against Roddick's awesome serve - he will probably meet Roger Federer in the Final on Sunday. Now can a Brit (Scot) be so mean as to stop Federer passsing Pete Sampras' equalled record of Grand Slam Titles ...surely that's a win/win for Tennis fans.
Do you think Andy can do it? You need to commit now not with hindsight that's easy. I think Andy will make the Final - a great achievement in only his fourth Wimbledon but lose in four sets to Roger - but I reserve the right to twaek my view after the Semi-finals tomorrow!!
