It’s that time of year again folks, from the 23rd to the 29th July Whitstable will play host to an orgy of heritage, arts, food and drink for 2011’s Oyster Festival!

What’s on offer is an eclectic mix of affordable entertainment, both indoors and outdoors for all the family in celebration of all things Whitstable and Oyster!

Events are still being added to the full programme, but already in the mix are the obligatory Oyster-eating competitions, mud tug (exactly what it sounds like), crab catching and of course the ceremonial ‘Landing of the Oysters’ and Oyster Parade.

There are dozens of family-oriented activities from 10am Saturday onwards throughout the town, and plenty of mouth-watering gastronomic delights along the way, with food fairs and champagne masterclasses available.

The quality and diversity of theatre, art, music and dance on offer is simply staggering, and whether you’re an Oyster Festival virgin or a die-hard regular, there will be something new and fun to enjoy.
