Brighten up your winter with a trip to the theatre

The new Marlowe Theatre Production Company are still hosting stunning performances in Canterbury, despite the rather major redecorating job the theatre is currently undergoing.
I've spotted a couple of great performances for the New Year, but for full listings, check out their website.

The Marriage of Figaro
Conducted by David Flood   Produced by Penelope Martin-Smith
In support of the New Marlowe Theatre Development Trust

Canterbury Cathedral Garden Opera presents by popular demand a rare winter performance of its acclaimed production of Mozart’s masterpiece The Marriage of Figaro.

“....a triumph of home-grown talent. Mozart was played and presented with real love and skill. Evenings like this of such simple enchantment are not readily found.”   Stephen Barlow (International Conductor)

The cast, entirely made up of local talent, comprises professional, semi-professional and student singers, all of whom have a connection with the Cathedral community. The performance was first staged last summer in the garden of the Deanery and was so well received that it was repeated a few weeks later.

The opera is presented in English and using the format with narrations by the character of Antonio, the gardener. For those familiar with some of our local soloists, there will be faces and voices to recognise, perhaps in unusual guise!
