A selection of dishes from the current menu to whet your appetite;

---- Salades and Starters ----

Brie du Prieuré de Saint Gregory £5.70

A ripe brie - coated in hazelnuts and breadcrumbs, deep fried, and served with a cranberry and onion marmalade. Inspiration: This dish was created to reflect the City of Canterbury. The combination of the breadcrumbs and hazelnuts gives both the colour and effect of the Caen stone quarried to build the Great Cathedral.

Terrine Maison £6.20

A rustic French classic - coarser than a Pâté and served with toasted granary bread

and chutney of the day.

---- Plat Principal ----

Confit de Canard sur Pomme de terre sarladaise £16.00

Confit of duck - served with potato sarladaise, and flavoured with the juices of wild mushrooms.

Gratin d'endives au parmesan avec une salade verte £10.50

Gratin of Chicory - with parmesan and a green salad reflect the Walloon region's extensive use of Chicory. Howfield, like Canterbury, with its Walloon Church, has historical links to the Huguenots.

.

---- Et pour finir ----

Crème brulée à la lavande £5.00

This classic crème brule - has been adapted to add a tint of traditional English lavender.

This summer, the kitchen garden was alive with bumble bees as they fed on the lavender plants.

Mi-cuit chocolat noisette et compote de poire £4.50

A chocolate and hazelnut dessert with a rich soft centre, served with a Kentish pear compote.
