Prince of Wales struggles to justify cost

Bookmark and Share

The Prince of Wales has failed to bring in the required revenue again in 2009. Estimates are made to say that the theatre will need subsidies to keep it afloat to the tune of £2000000 over the next 5 years. The old design of the building with small bars and minimal conference space restricts the use of the building and with competition from more modern venues the theatre struggles.

Will this be the last year for the Christmas panto at the theatre? Who knows. I do remember seeing Button Moon there, but that was some time ago! My last visit was to see Paddy McGuiness. The place did seem run down and buying lager in cans seemed less than ideal.

Without an uplift in visitor numbers The Prince of Wales theatre as we know it could be doomed.
