Big screen return!

Cannock movie goers are at last getting a chance to watch films on their own silver screen with the opening of new cinema due in less than two weeks.

The Electric Palace on Walsall Road is a 'completely refurbished' version of the old Picture House on the same site, which closed five years ago.

The new three-screen cinema is set to open its doors to film goers for the first time on November 13, in time for the release of the latest blockbuster 2012.

The largest auditorium will be able to seat 270 people with the second screen having a capacity of 170, customers will be able to choose from seats or a sofa area in both venues. The third screen, which doubles as a conference facility, will seat about 40 people.

It may not be the multiplex we were all hoping for but at least we can see the new films in Cannock again. We look forward to hearing from visitors about their experiences.

Here at the Best of Cannock we can’t wait. Popcorn anyone?

Three of us went to the new cinema on Sunday to see 2012. We aere REALLY excited at the thought of Cannock having a cinema and desperately want to support any new initiative in the town. We paid an extra pound for tub seats to find everyone sitting in them, obviously with normal tickets so we wondered why we bothered. A party of about eight teenagers, talked and laughed throughout and spoilt it for everyone. There was no staff to monitor them and I'm not sure that we'll go again. Sorry. report abuse...

I went to the cinema shortly after it reopeded. I was very disapointed. The sound was awful and the picture on the screen on the screen (1) was so dull it was uncomfortable to look at. Like Cristine B. I don't think I will go again. report abuse...
