Don't lose yet another bank holiday! Leave the DIY to the experts!

I hate painting.

Don't get me wrong - I love the result. Once a room has been decorated and transformed, and all the furniture and personal items have been moved back in, the back-breaking work, ruined clothing and lost hours are worth it.

But in the middle of the horror, with Absolute 80s making your ears bleed as you hear the rest of the world outside, enjoying the bank holiday, there seems to be no end in sight. Days of straining your eyes to paint white window frames with white gloss, being splattered with emulsion as you paint over the white ceiling with - yes - more white, the cutting in, oh my, the cutting in, regretting the decision to have a 'feature wall' as that just means washing up more rollers and brushes and even more cutting in...

And of course, we mustn't forget the dust and dirt that comes with any large project. If you have had to endure rooms being plastered before the painting can commence (and of course, that means a first coat of white paint before you can even think about the final wall colour), you will know what a state your carpets end up in. Dust that no matter how many times you hoover, keeps coming back. Footprints and doggy paw prints tracked up and down the stairs.

Nope, I don't like painting.

So after yet another bank holiday that involved inhaling paint fumes rather than supping Pimms, I have decided to throw in the towel. The next project will be carried out by the professionals.

And luckily for Cambridge, we have three excellent painters and decorators - Steve the Decorator, Lofts & Griffiths and S Donald Painters and Decorators.

What will I get for paying to have my house painted by a professional?

Courteous, polite, experienced and boasting exemplary credentials, our local painters and decorators may cost more than just the paint and brushes, but what you will get back in return is your life. Your health. Your sanity. A professional who will provide you with a fair quote, turn up when they say and get the job done with the minimum of fuss and disruption.

Can you really put a price on that?

Covering Cambridge and the surrounding areas, Steve the Decorator, Lofts & Griffiths and S Donald Painters and Decorators all come highly recommended from the people who know best - their customers.
