Situated in Great Wilbraham near Cambridge, The Carpenters Arms has been transformed from a neglected Grade II listed building into one of the finest gastro pubs and French restaurants in the area.
Having spent six years successfully running an award-winning restaurant in the South of France, Rick and Heather Hurley have returned to the UK and transformed The Carpenters Arms into a leading gastro pub.
Serving top quality French cuisine in our restaurant and traditional British pub food in our bar, The Carpenters Arms really is the best of both worlds!
From a light, relaxed lunch to formal celebration, our bar area is a cosy, warm retreat in which to relax, chat and have a snack, while our restaurant is the perfect fine dining venue.
Situated on the High Street in Great Wilbraham, The Carpenters Arms was neglected for many years before Rick and Heather took over. We are proud to have re-established the gastro pub as the heart of the community, enjoying a roaring trade from both locals and gourmet lovers from further afield.
Authentic French Cuisine
Whether you're planning a romantic meal for two, a family night out or a first class business lunch with clients, The Carpenters Arms is the ideal choice.
Our restaurant is French gastronomic at its core, with selected influences from some of the world's other culinary epicentres, including Italian, Catalan and Thai:
Millefeuille of Escilavade with Melted Mozzarella on a Red Pepper Coulis with a Mirepoix of River Farm Black Olives
Pan Fried Fois Gras Façon Tarte Tatin
Fillet of Sustainable Source Sea Bass with a Sun Dried Tapenade and Served with Rice
Rump of Salt Marsh Nicoise with Griddled Vegetables and and Basil and Mixed Herb Jus
Pavlova with Fresh Fruits and a Mango Coulis
Chocamisu - Tiramisu but with a Twist of Chocolate
We always use the very finest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible, for our restaurant and pub food. In addition, many of our herbs are grown in The Carpenters Arms' garden - in fact, Heather is currently growing 14 different varieties of tomatoes in her greenhouse!
Wine also plays a large part of our menu; we have carefully selected our French wines to complement our cuisine, many of which come from family-run vineyards Rick and Heather know very well! We also have a range of quality New World wines available.
